Game Education Summit at SMU

Early bird prices for admission to the Game Education Summit over at SMU will expire Monday, June 9. The summit will be held in Dallas on the SMU campus June 10-11. Here’s a snippet from the e-mail Conference Director Mark Chuberka sent out:

There are so many things going on at the Game Education Summit! This a great conference for industry professionals and academics alike.

Speakers include representatives from some of the best companies around North America, including Sony, Electronic Arts, Disney, id, Microsoft, THQ, and Activision as well as leading universities such as The Guildhall, Carnegie Mellon, USC, Full Sail, Indiana University, the University of Central Florida, and the University of Wisconsin.

We are pleased to announce the addition of a LIVING CLASSROOM at the conference which will bring The Guildhall’s graduating class to the summit as they present their final game projects to their professors to complete their degree. All attendees can observe the class and interact with the program as they complete this stage of their careers in game development.

SMU’s Guildhall program was one of the first master’s level videogame creation programs offered by a major university. By all accounts, the program has done an admirable job of providing students with an excellent education and connections to industry leaders in the Dallas area (which has a surprising number of gaming and software companies), as well as those in Austin and Silicon Valley.
